Gübelin

Gübelin has kept a boutique on Zurich’s Bahnhofstrasse since 1932, set over two floors. The cases hold the house’s own rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces, built around coloured gemstones and diamonds, and couples can use the bespoke service to work through an engagement ring with the firm’s designers, gem setters and goldsmiths. Coloured stones are the speciality here: rubies, sapphires and emeralds run through much of the collection.

The Zurich boutique also sells watches, with brands such as Patek Philippe, Bulgari, Chanel, Jaeger-LeCoultre and Zenith among those stocked. The house dates to 1854 and is as well known for gemmology as for retail, since its gem lab grades stones for buyers worldwide, which matters if you want to know exactly what is set in a ring.
