Gübelin’s repair and restoration service has the backing of the house gem lab, which makes it different from most Zurich jewellers. If you bring in a piece for repair and the stones need assessment, the lab can grade them and issue documentation as part of the process. That’s useful if you inherited a ring and want to know what you have before deciding how to rework it.
The atelier handles resizing, stone replacement, re-polishing, and redesign commissions. For coloured stone pieces in particular, having gemmological assessment in-house removes the usual uncertainty about what condition the stones are in before work begins.
